Hello everyone… due to multiple factors, we are going to postpone my author/artist talk, which was scheduled for this Tuesday, until the fall.

There is so much going on at the moment with wildfires throughout the province and our sweet Oreo really sick, as well as timing for folks who really wanted to attend not in alignment.

It feels better to wait and create the event later in September sometime …we will keep everyone posted. Thank you so much to everyone for backing the Kickstarter and supporting this book project. I really appreciate it✨🙏

The Elite Collector’s Remarques… the hand-embellishment on these custom hardcovers are extensive. They include hand-painted edges, two original paintings in the front and back of the book, and hidden sketches throughout!

All that on top of the approximately 30 full-page illustrations. These Remarque copies are only available through my Kickstarters. There will only be six made for Book Two, and four have already been claimed.

If you visited the campaign page recently, you may have seen that the banner for the project has changed to spotlight the antagonist of Book Two. This is because without the Black Rith Miroth, our heroes would never face such challenges, and would have nothing to stand against.

Showcasing his character, drawing, also serves to underline the high stakes of the mission, Rowan, Torrin, and their friends, undertake in Book Two.

I intentionally did not share this illustration as we launched Book One, in order to keep the tension rising, and the mystery about who, or what was hunting Rowan, obscured.

Now, as the story continues and Miroth becomes more prominent, it seemed appropriate to share him in all his sinister glory! I just love how this drawing turned out: his intense stare, wrinkled features, gnarled, hands, and staff, even the clasp and hint of fur on his collar. I had a lot of fun on this one.

I am happy to share that the #kickstarter campaign for Book Two of the Stone Guardians is now 90% of the way toward its funding goal! Yay!
My heartfelt thanks to past backers and new alike who are helping me bring this project to life. There are still a few hours to get in on the early discounts for the signed hardcovers, and Keeper's Box bundle.
Our campaign for Book Two is modest, yet once funded it will go a long way to helping me pay for the custom hardcover print run of Book Two. As an artist as well as an author, it is so gratifying to see the books in my series getting produced in a high-quality format with so many illustrations throughout. I absolutely love what I do. As a relatively established fine artist, it is a little daunting and a challenge to be starting from scratch as an indie author. But ultimately it is worth it because this illustrated fantasy novel series doesn't just consist of books. That is only one aspect of it, what I am creating is an entire body of work grounded in this world, its characters and story.

How important is world building to you as a fantasy reader?

History, myths and legends, how landscapes have changed, weather patterns and their effects on the cultures in books are some of the essential aspects of solid world building that helps to deepen the immersive quality of a fantasy book series. As a fine artist as well as a fantasy author, it is such a pleasure to be able to bring my characters and world to life visually. I have sculpted, drawn and painted them into existence every bit as much as the words on the page. It is one of my favourite things about creating books.

Illustrated novels are not very common but it adds so much layered richness to the experience of reading!
