What is a Remarque?
A remarque is an original piece of artwork created directly inside a finished book.
Each copy is hand-embellished in the studio and becomes a one-of-a-kind art object as well as a novel.
No two are ever the same.
Every Collector’s Remarque is:

individually illustrated inside the book
-
signed and numbered
-
created by hand between the printed pages
These editions exist at the intersection of storytelling, illustration, and traditional book arts.
Why These Editions Exist
Books have always been more than vessels for stories. They are objects meant to be held, kept, and returned to over time. Collector’s Remarques were created as a way to bring traditional craftsmanship back into the bookmaking process and to create heirloom editions for readers who want something truly rare and personal. Each copy is created slowly and intentionally in the studio. The process cannot be rushed, automated, or reproduced. The result is a book that carries both the story and the marks of the artist’s hand.
The Three Remarque Tiers
Once They Are Gone
The number of Collector’s Remarques offered for each book will never increase.
Once all copies for a title are claimed, the edition is permanently complete.
Remaining copies from Book One will return in future Kickstarter campaigns until the edition is fully claimed.
The Studio Process
Every Collector’s Remarque is created through a multi-stage process that unfolds over many studio sessions.
The process includes:

sketching and illustration inside the book

painting the page edges by hand

calligraphy and finishing details
-
signing and numbering each copy
This slow, traditional approach ensures that each book is completely unique.
