A Story Born in Dreams, Now a Reality

Dear Fantasy Reader,

Some stories arrive in the quiet corners of the mind, slowly taking shape over time. Others appear like a bolt of lightning, demanding to be told. The Messenger From Myris Dar, the first book in The Stone Guardians series, was the latter.

This world came to me in my dreams—vivid, insistent, refusing to fade with the morning light. The landscapes, the characters, the prophecy that binds them all—it was as if I had glimpsed another realm and was entrusted with the task of bringing it to life. I have spent years doing just that, crafting not only the story but also the illustrations, each one carefully drawn in a classic style to complement the tale’s depth and richness.

In 2023, The Messenger From Myris Dar was honored as a Page Turner Award finalist, a recognition that affirmed what I had felt from the beginning—this story is something special. And now, I want to share it with you.

A Tale of Mystery, Courage, and Prophecy

At its heart, The Messenger From Myris Dar is an epic fantasy woven with mystery and adventure. It follows a strong-willed heroine, bound by fate to a prophecy she does not yet understand. With a band of unlikely heroes, she must journey through treacherous lands, hunted at every turn, to unravel the truth before it’s too late.

This is a world unlike any other—one I built from the ground up, filled with ancient secrets, perilous landscapes, and new beings that defy familiar fantasy tropes. It is a story of sacrifice, destiny, and the unbreakable bonds forged in the fires of hardship.

And now, I am bringing it to readers in a very special way.

I thoroughly enjoyed drawing this one! You know when the image you have in mind for a drawing turns out exactly as you envision it? Lol. Yeah, almost never right? But the Warriors of the Klyssen Horse Clans was one of those rare occasions where the actual artwork matched my vision for it perfectly.

Sharing the vibe of my books and these beloved characters in this way can be as fulfilling as writing the books and creating the artwork.

On an exciting note… I have now completed my revisions for Book One, The Messenger From Myris Dar, with more illustrations and a new chapter! When the book completes its second edition publishing, I will be creating my first special edition Kickstarter campaign for it. I am so excited to see both the regular new edition hardcover and the deluxe special edition hardcovers📖

The cover painting for Keeper’s Burden, the second edition Book Two of The Stone Guardians. I just loved sinking into the details of this piece. I still have some final touches to do before it graces the cover of Keeper’s Burden, but I am really excited to see it printed!

I have almost completed revisions for Book One’s second edition publishing which will include more illustrations and a new chapter. It is such a joy to revisit this work and fall in love with these characters all over again❤️

On a side note: I have noticed that all of my posts on instagram are being darkened by the app… I am not sure why but it is frustrating. Anyone else experiencing this?

As I began drawings for the books, I originally was working on white paper. However as I expanded the work I started using a toned grey paper which allows the use of white pencil crayons. I so love the storied and classic feel of this process.

October 26th and 27th... The @thepenticon is next weekend! I am excited to once again be attending the awesome Penticon. If you are in the Okanagan and want to attend a family-friendly event, make sure you come out to see it.

I will be in the Exhibitor Hall, Booth A3, and will be sharing all things Stone Guardians, including signed books, book boxes, limited edition prints and postcards.

I am also doing sculpture demos all weekend and will be displaying some of the large original paintings featured on the covers of the books. I look forward to seeing folks there❤️

October 26th and 27th... The @thepenticon is next weekend! I am excited to once again be attending the awesome Penticon. If you are in the Okanagan and want to attend a family-friendly event, make sure you come out to see it.

I will be in the Exhibitor Hall, Booth A3, and will be sharing all things Stone Guardians, including signed books, book boxes, limited edition prints and postcards.

I am also doing sculpture demos all weekend and will be displaying some of the large original paintings featured on the covers of the books. I look forward to seeing folks there❤️

Some recent illustrations I have been working on… I often have several underway at the same time, working back and forth as I am inspired.

With Book One beginning its publishing path to have the high quality hardcover edition created, I wanted to add more illustrations, and update a few.

Work in progress…. This is an image that I imagine from Book One’s description of the Wilds, which swallows men and armies trying to claim it.

One of the most interesting things about being both a writer and an artist is how the imagery for the scenes arrive. Some come first as written words that flow with emotion and action, while others are drawn on the page, painted or sculpted, and then call upon me to write them into the books.

We begin with the first half of Book One of The Stone Guardians, The Messenger From Myris Dar. The trade-copy paperback is too long to publish as a hardcover, so we will be splitting it into two volumes.
